Baleswood was one of the premier schools of magic in the United States. It is located near New Orleans in the Louisiana Territory, and conducts a summer-school program, which Angelique Devereaux attended during the Summer of 2008. The location of the school, like that of most American wizarding schools, was chosen because it was once used by the practitioners of native tribal magic.
In June 2011, the school was destroyed by magic that caused the surrounding swamp to swallow the school.
